The Jewellery Council of South Africa
How do you know that the jewellery you are buying is genuine ? How do you know that the jewellery merchant that you are dealing with is honest ? In South Africa, the Jewellery Council represents most retail jewellers and is there to protect your interests if you buy from any of its members. The council's role is to set a level of standards within the industry, and to offer assistance in bringing about successful resolutions to disputes that may arise between its members and their clients.
In the event of a member being found to have acted in an unethical way, the member's conduct is referred to the National Retail Panel for possible disciplinary action to be taken against the member in terms of the relevant constitution. The council deals with the public on daily basis, and is happy to answer any queries. In addition to dealing with complaints, it also assists with career and employment opportunities in the industry.
